When Chelsea and Ken decided to Elope to Ireland, they put us under pressure with a pretty short lead in time of less than a month! Being conscious that a quick decision to get married is the definition of an elopement {though actually rarely done anymore} we had to get it done for them but more importantly be sure to get it right.

The experience of the whole trip was just as important as the day so we rallied around to get them lots of options on various locations around the country that they may like and they chose Doolin where we arranged the ceremony location to be an ancient abbey ruins.  The ceremony was important to this loving gentle couple and in light of the historic location a Celtic wedding ceremony was also arranged.

We put a few photographers to them to look over but knew right away that Mike Patterson Photography would be great for them. He is fun and sociable and just a great match for this couple. That they loved his photos was a bonus and they chose him to capture their day.

All was arranged for them and they traveled over with a few days to explore before the actual wedding day. Arriving in Doolin the night before their wedding, the popped into a pub {as you do!} and loved the trad band they saw so much, they asked them to play for their ceremony on the spot. I think spontaneous is the word we really should be using for this couple!

The wedding day turned out to be a breezy but sunny afternoon and once they were both ready for the ceremony, decided to see each other before the ceremony to alleviate some nerves and travel to the ceremony together.

After a beautiful and meaningful ceremony, the couple went with Mike along the coast road with a good few stops at the lighthouse, cliffs and beach. Of course they ended up in the pub. But that is a traditional Irish wedding for you!

Here are a few images of their day.
